Why did you decide to become egg farmers?

Chris and I have been farming for almost 40 years in Starr's Point, first raising cattle and hogs. Our two sons Warren and Tim are the 4th generation of my family to farm the property that is now the home of our egg laying hens.

When Warren and Tim graduated from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, we decided that after raising hogs for 30 years it was time to change and expand so we purchased egg quota. It was a huge undertaking, but it has allowed our family to work and grow together.

Ask a farmer: Joy from Kentville asks...
Are the eggs I buy at the grocery store produced locally?

Yes, there are 23 licensed egg farmers in Nova Scotia who produce fresh, local and high-quality eggs for Nova Scotians to enjoy every single day. The vast majority of eggs found in your retail store are locally produced.

Favourite Egg recipe?

Our family's favourite egg recipe is Smoked Salmon Frittata. When in season we add fresh fiddleheads or asparagus -so delicious!
